On Monday the week starts at a club like many others. The coach wants to know which classes are on. The treasurer wants to know who still has to pay their fees. The competition secretary needs the pools ready by Saturday. And someone still has to fill the hall duty. Volunteers do all of this, next to their jobs and families.
What is Grip op Sport?
Grip op Sport is software for sports clubs. Members, classes, competitions and pools, fees and the club website are in one place, instead of scattered across spreadsheets, chat messages and paper.
The name says what it is about: grip, as in a hold on things. You see what is going on and what is still open, without calling three people.
Who is it for?
For clubs that run on volunteers. There, time is what is scarcest. So software has to make the work shorter, not become an extra task.
A small club with a handful of volunteers has the same tasks as a large one: keeping track of members, planning classes, organising competitions and collecting fees. There are just fewer hands. Grip op Sport is built for that situation. Every sport also has its own habits, such as belts in judo or pools at a tournament, and the software takes that into account.
What you arrange in one place
Everything a club needs in a week is in the same system:
- Members and classes
- Competitions and pools
- Membership fees
- The volunteer rota
- Club news for groups of members
- The club website
Everyone works with the same data, and everyone sees the screen that fits their own role. The coach does not need to see the fees, and the treasurer does not need to see the pools.
Why I build it
I am Nick Postma and I build Grip op Sport because volunteers would rather spend their time on the sport than on admin. Less admin means tasks are done sooner and fewer things are kept twice.
I test every choice with one question: does this save a volunteer time? If not, it does not belong.
Remember the name
Grip op Sport: less admin, everything in one place, one screen per role. Do you know a club that runs on volunteers? Pass this blog on to them.
